Kalkan has a climate similar to that of Southern California and with sea temperatures that rarely dip below a comfortable 16c - you can be a water baby most of the year.
Take the boat out for a spot of fishing in the many sheltered coves nearby, or moor up in Kalkan harbour for some local shopping. If you feel energetic then making waves with a little wakeboarding is a fun way to spend some time. Alternatively just unwind with a good book. A far cry from the busy beach clubs in Kalkan – the seclusion and tranquility found here is quite literally, priceless.
Scuba diving is safe and fun in this region, with a small number of professionally run companies in Kalkan offering daily dives and weekly courses with PADI qualifications up to instructor level. If you are lucky you may get to see and swim with the famous loggerhead turtles. Wakeboarding and water skiing are also popular activities in Kalkan bay.
Yachting is very popular along this part of the Turkish coast due to its numerous hidden bays and safe waters. Kalkan harbour is a registered yacht berthing harbour and as such larger boats can be left there for extensive periods of time. There are chandlers and support services in nearby Kas and Fethiye. The nearest port of entry is Kas. Secure marinas in Fethiye and Gocek are just over an hour away.
